Modified dSLR cameras...

In recent years, dSLR cameras have been used extensively in astrophotography with Canon and Nikon dSLR cameras leading the way and giving some very impressive results.

The only real draw back with 'out-of-the-box' Canon and Nikon cameras has been that the fitted filter cuts a large amount of the red light at particular frequencies, giving a very poor response in the crucial Hydrogen Alpha band of emission nebulae. The solution to this is to modify the camera for astronomy by changing the internal filter.

The canon 350Ds sold are brand new standard UK versions in black - recently, I have been asked if these are 'Limited Addition' - they are not - black bodied 350Ds are the standard available in the UK - silver body cameras are sold as standard in other parts of the world. The standard body and kit 350Ds sold in the UK are black.
